Birthday camping trip delays

Well, it looks like my birthday camping extravaganza may have been sidetracked by a bug that flew home with my Hub. He did have a fun vacation and visit with his family, out east, though.

The bonus is he let me mow the lawn today. He prefers to do it and the dogs prefer I don’t. I have always enjoyed mowing when the grass is tall and the swaths open up a path…until it’s all in order. It’s also nice that it’s not a chore for me. I don’t have to do it. I hope it’s not a chore for the Hub, I’m pretty sure he enjoys it.

The car has developed a couple problems so I’m loathe to take it far alone. It’s been an awesome car. A little like Lorelei Gilmore and her Jeep, I’d like this little red car to last and last. Getting the new part is posing quite a delay.

It’s not camping, but I have one fun new birthday activity to do nearby with the dogs. It still involves acres of flowers and a memorial. I’ll try to add pictures here later. Then I may go to an Amish market I enjoy and buy some lovely, clean fresh fruits and veggies to grill with soy, fresh dill and fresh honey. There is a boutique hotel I can take the dogs to in the middle of the State but the room I’d like is the most expensive one…and then add $40 per dog. I just can’t get myself to spend that.

Ho hum. First world problems.

I met a woman, two days ago, whose family is going through a really rough patch at the hands of a malignant narcissist. She had internalized her anger so much that she was spewing it out at everyone…unconsciously trying to lessen her pain while really just trying to bring more company into her misery…and make room for more inside herself. I pray that energy doesn’t turn into sickness in her body before she sits with it and sees it for what it really is.

What’s interesting is a YouTube video popped up on my feed about a man who lived on a small island during the 2020 mess. His tourist biz completely shut down. He and his wife were using up all of their savings so they decided to sell the second van, while acknowledging all known issues and requiring the buyer to bring his own mechanic. It sold and after three months of the buyer using the van, the buyer came back complaining about the very things that had been advertised and acknowledged as issues before the sale.

The seller said he and his wife decided that in accordance with their faith, they would buy it back, as if it had been a three months rental. The man pitched a fit. On an island of about 200 people , they expected to run into him. They didn’t. Just the nasty calls. It went back and forth. The speaker wanted to take the high road and kept trying to make it all more palatable. Then one day the man showed up at a local restaurant. The seller went to speak with him as an olive branch gesture. It didn’t go well. At the last, he and his wife were down to their last bit of cash but they decided that even if the man was trying to take advantage of them, they would buy it back at full price and even give a little bonus.

Ok, so I’ll be honest, as a listener his resolution took a while for me to digest. Where was the truth?? Where was the justice?? Is it right to just allow another to take advantage?? What were the lessons?? Is it all just a Job story??

It’s true the owner and his wife no longer carried burden of the man’s dark energy directed at them. Being free of the darkness…a price above rubies I suppose. What price peace?? What does that mean in current world events??

There is a Tracy Chapman song I love with a line that goes: Oh my Mamma told me, you have to learn the hard way, don’t give or sell your soul away, cause all that you have is your soul.

Maybe that is the bottom line on it all.

And then, after the Universe sent me the video, I met the angry woman with her Job story. interesting timing, eh??!

And the video does not show up in my watched cue. Curious and curiouser.

So, another camping trip will come…maybe in time to pick riotous flowers on my birthday, maybe not. Birthdays are a good time to reflect on lessons learned and wisdom earned.

So for all you Leo Lions out there…be wise. Find joys. Love one another. If you are a camper, go out for me and have cake while you are at it.
