Cooler organization

We have the 3 way fridge in our Casita. We all know she is a tough task master requiring level and about 10 hours to cool down.

This last trip, we literally just ran out of the door to escape the high sauna heat and go north. That meant back to the cooler times until we arrived at camp.

We came from 10 years of backpacking and tents and multi-day canoe trips. What that taught us is that coolers require organization and dry bags.

We have a big bag for breads. Clear bags for things we get to a lot like cheese sticks and carrots and celery, yogurt cups as well as any Tupperware type lidded containers. Some of these bags have been with us for decades and a bunch I picked up on Marketplace for pennies on the dollar.

Organizing this way makes it easy to pull your category of food… fast and shut the lid… as well as let the cubes be all around the dry bags.

You can start out with frozen water bottles and drink those later but refreshing with ice bags means dry bags can save a lot of cooler soup heartbreak.

Coolers are awesome but swamped food can leave you hungry when you are camped miles from nowhere or trying to preserve food in a power outage.

A good dry bag is a good thing!
