There is no denying that camping is a terrific way to unplug, meet people and ground ourselves with nature.
I don’t pay much attention to the news after having lived through riots down the street, where I saw truths that negated the narrative…and then seeing what was created for the news. It’s a little like the biblical “wars and rumors of wars”… enough said there.
There are disturbing trends happening around us now. The cost of goods and gas are inching and sometimes galloping up. There is a mounting feeling that bigger things are on the way. I believe in caution but I don’t believe in hiding at home and skipping opportunities for fun and knowledge and connection.
Given all of that, I was thinking about floating the idea of regional Egg Camping Clubs— by State. The rule would be Eggs and small campers because, let’s face it, small campers are a special breed. Each group could of course invite whomever they pleased. The idea is that if regional trouble erupts and traveling expenses get crazy then camping trips can still be made close enough to home with a known group.
If I were to start a SE MO group, I would require that every member plan a minimum of one outing. It could be a committee plan five member work on five trips together kind of thing. Everything is an exchange of energy…otherwise people burn out. Some trips could be around cooking, history, making Egg art, story telling, could be a book club trip, a trip to help out a storm damaged area, music making, trying to help keep a really nice private campground supported…you know what I mean. It could be on private land or in parks or forests or private campgrounds.
I would also stipulate the gatherings to be non political and golden rule driven.
Wouldn’t it be fun if every State divided into four regions (maybe more for the big States) and each had an Egg Club?!
I would want to take it off of social media. It’s just safer that way. I don’t know if “meetup”would be private enough to get it started or even in the comments on a post like this. It could be as simple as:
Name: Ann
Email Address:
Location: SE MO
and then the people who want to join their region(s) reply to that specific comment with their location and emails and then email the person directly.
I have to get some more photos (if the rain ever lets me) and then I will post some ideas I have for my region.
Tell me what you think. Is this worth me putting my energy into this? If you wanted to join a group, what could you bring to the table? What would you want to avoid?
If you have found value here, I hope you will like, comment, follow and share. Thanks
